The Blackfoot called themselves Niitsitapii which means the Real People. They lived in present day northern Montana and southern Canada. Their tribe covered a hefty dimension of land. Their territory may have reached from present day North Dakota west to the Rocky Mountains. The northern region of the tribe reached Alberta and Saskatchewan located in Canada. The southern region extends to Montana and Dakota located in the United States of America. The homelands had high, rolling plains. Forest, grasslands, streams, and rivers covered the land. Hills, rugged glaciers, and steep cliffs also covered the land. The climate was hot and dry in the summer and severely cold in the winter. They had about 2/13 = 15percent of Canada and 2/50 = 4percent of U.S.A. which is a total of 4/63 = 6percent.
